Serene Surroundings…Gadisar Lake, Jaisalmer

A manmade reservoir, the Gadisar Lake in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan was constructed by Raja Rawal Jaisal, the first ruler of Jaisalmer. In the later years Maharaja Garisisar Singh rebuilt and revamped the lake.

Artistically carved Chattris, Temples, Shrines and Ghats surround the banks of Gadisar Lake Jaisalmer. Located towards the south of Jaisalmer city the entrance to the Gadisar Lake or Garsisar Tank is through a magnificent and artistically carved yellow sandstone archway that is known as the Tilon-Ki-Pol.

The serene Gadisar Lake Lake springs to life during the annual Gangaur celebrations. The view of the Jaisalmer Fort from the Gadisar Lake is breathtaking.

Viva Carnival 2013, Goa

It’s been a long wait…

Lot of things have happened in the last few weeks. But there is one thing that is still fresh in my mind. The Viva Carnival at Goa. You have to visit Goa during the Carnival. There’s so much to discover. It was pure adrenaline rush…the four day carnival took us through the culture of Goa. Fun, food, dance, music and lots of enthusiasm. Guess it’s there in their blood :-)

I stationed at Panjim, the main centre of all the extravaganza. The roads were all barricaded for maintaining peace and decorum during the floats display. Tourists, localites, kids, oldies were all engrossed in the colourful floats and their messages.. About 200 floats were displayed during the carnival. Never expected the Goa carnival to be so much fun and enthralling. Hats off to the organizers for pulling this show with utmost perfection & extravaganza.

The Royal Bengal Tiger…

Capturing the Royal Bengal Tiger was indeed a challenge as this big cat was too fast and furious. At every click my heart skipped a beat coz we were separated by a meter or two and believe me you can’t look into his eyes.  They are really ferocious and scary. The Bannerghatta National Park in Bangalore is a must visit and the highlight of the park is this safari ride as you get so close to these wild animals in their natural surroundings.
